ABOUT NICOLINE
Nicoline Beerkens is known for creating interiors that feel both effortless and deeply personal. With a refined understanding of space and architecture, her work goes beyond aesthetics—it's about enriching the way people live.
Drawing inspiration from nature, travel, art, and the creative people around her, Nicoline blends classic influences with a contemporary sensibility. Her years in Amsterdam and Lisbon inform her instinctive use of natural textures, organic elements, and light—shaping interiors that feel harmonious and grounded.
Originally trained in law at the University of Groningen, Nicoline’s path to design was unexpected. She honed her craft under renowned designers Marcel Wolterinck and Kate Hume, developing a distinctive, architecture-led approach to high-end interiors. In 2012, she founded Nicoline Beerkens Interiors, dedicated to creating bespoke spaces that balance elegance with livability.
What sets her apart is not just her design vision but the long-standing relationships she builds. Many clients return to her for multiple homes, trusting her to translate their aspirations into spaces that feel uniquely theirs. For Nicoline, the most rewarding part of her work is seeing a house evolve into a home that reflects the lives within it.
At Nicoline Beerkens Interior Design, every project begins with curiosity. We take time to understand how our clients live—their tastes, and what makes them feel at home. From there, we design spaces that are not only beautiful but intuitive and deeply personal.
Our work is rooted in a holistic approach, where architecture and interiors are considered together to create harmony and flow. We rework layouts, shift entrances, and refine spatial dynamics to unlock the full potential of each property.
It’s a collaborative journey—shaped by dialogue and trust. As interior designers, we are involved every step of the way—from initial concepts and architectural planning to sourcing, installation, and the final layered details. We oversee the entire process to ensure a seamless and cohesive result.
Each project is entirely bespoke, featuring custom furniture, tailored soft furnishings, and curated art and vintage pieces that reflect our clients’ individuality.
Our portfolio spans Europe, from relaxed beach houses in Ibiza and Comporta to remarkable historic homes in Cascais and Estoril. Highlights include the transformation of an Amsterdam canal house for a creative executive in the fashion industry.
If you’re considering a project, we’d love to hear from you.
